The two year DiSE programme is delivered in partnership between England Hockey and Loughborough College

Charlie Emms & Matt Pullin from the club’s Men’s 1st XI have been accepted on to the course and will follow in the footsteps of clubmates Freya Wallace & Scott Patterson who have previously participated in the programme.

The Diploma in Sporting Excellence programme (‘DiSE’), governed by Sport England, is delivered to elite performers selected by their National Sporting Governing Body via their Talent Performance Pathway in order to help them progress on their journey towards reaching their athletic potential.

The course is designed to
• To develop an oversupply of players who can ably transition into the England U18, England U21 and GB Elite Development Programmes with the potential to be world-leading senior internationals, whilst also having a positive impact on the domestic club game
• directly measure the athletes' ability to plan, apply and evaluate their development in the appropriate aspects of their sport.
Other sports participate in this scheme such as Athletics, Swimming, Golf, Netball, Rugby and football.

The two year DiSE programme is delivered in partnership between England Hockey and Loughborough College and designed to be delivered alongside a conventional post GCSE study programme of education or training for students aged 16-18years.

Matt is currently studying for his A Levels at Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, while Charlie is studying for his BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in PE & Sports Coaching at Hartpury College.

Both players will be expected to attend national camps and residentials at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, hub days and a remote induction all designed to provide a rich blend of on-pitch technical and tactical sessions, presentations, 1-2-1s and elements of portfolio work.

The programme is open to those players entering into Year 12/ post GSCE Full Time education AND part of the Talent Academy pathway OR England Age Group squads. Priority access is given to those in full time, state funded education.

In addition, as well as a BTEC Level 3 Diploma qualification, DiSE carries 64 UCAS points to help performers with their ongoing progression into Higher Education, allowing them to continue on a potential dual career pathway.
