Congratulations to Men’s 1st XI player and Hartpury College student Charlie Emms for his selection into the England Colleges Men’s Hockey squad for the coming season.
Following recent trials at Wrekin College nr Telford, Charlie gained selection into the squad run by the Association of Colleges (‘AoC’) - which has been operating National representative teams in football, netball and Men’s & Ladies hockey for the last 20+ years.
AoC Sport is the membership organisation for further/higher education colleges in the UK, leading the development of sport and physical activity across those institutions.
50+ players from FE Colleges across the UK were nominated by their colleges to attend, with a squad of 23 players selected.
There will be a training camp at February half term and while the playing programme for 2025 is yet to be finalised, matches are planned against:
England u16s, Scotland u17/18s (where he might come across some WuEHC clubmates/familiar faces?!) as well as Wales u18s.
In previous seasons, matches have also been played against the likes of Combined Services u25s, some University XIs and a British Asians representatives XI.
Good luck Charlie!
