The club’s U10s and U12s teams have some shiny new goalkeeping kit courtesy of a successful grant application from the Jack Lane Charitable Trust. Jack Lane were particularly impressed with the community aspect of Wotton under Edge HC, especially our band of volunteers that work hard at the club (and at the wider Wotton Community PARC). They also commented on the family/intergenerational aspect of our club offering a sporting environment to bring youth and adult players together in the same teams. However, if club members are interested we still have lots of volunteering opportunities to 'Make WUE HC even Greater'
With their extremely generous contribution we have been able to purchase two full junior goalkeeper kits plus an extra pair of kickers. Thursday night junior sessions now have two goalkeepers training with their age groups in preparation for junior tournaments. This kit offers the younger players an opportunity to explore the goalkeeping position with safe, quality, kit that gives a positive experience, without parents needing to invest in expensive kit that will be rapidly outgrown. You’ll all agree the kit looks absolutely fabulous, with it’s eye-catching red kickers, pads and deflectors from world leading brand Mercian Hockey (who’s current Managing Director Simon Mason, OLY is a former KLB pupil!)
